Vacations are planned months in advance, and sometimes circumstances change unexpectedly. Because our rental homes are reserved exclusively for each guest and our cancellation policy becomes more restrictive as the arrival date approaches, we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance when you make your reservation.
Travel insurance may provide financial protection for certain unexpected events such as illness, injury, family emergencies, severe weather, travel interruptions, transportation problems, and other covered circumstances.
For guests traveling to Cape San Blas for a specific activity—such as scallop season, fishing, boating, festivals, tournaments, weddings, or other events—we especially encourage reviewing available insurance options carefully.
The availability of scalloping, fishing, boating, beaches, waterways, recreational areas, events, and other activities is outside the control of the property owner.
Government agencies, including the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), may cancel, shorten, restrict, or modify recreational seasons or activities. Weather, water conditions, red tide, wildlife abundance, governmental actions, event cancellations, and other circumstances may also affect the activities guests planned to enjoy during their stay.
These circumstances do not change our normal cancellation policy when the rental property remains available for occupancy.
If participation in a particular activity or event is an important reason for your trip, we strongly recommend considering travel insurance that provides the level of cancellation protection you are comfortable with.
Standard travel insurance generally covers only the specific cancellation reasons listed in the policy.
Guests who would like broader protection should investigate Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) coverage. CFAR coverage may provide reimbursement when a trip is canceled for reasons that would not normally qualify under standard travel insurance.
CFAR policies typically have specific purchase deadlines, cancellation deadlines, and reimbursement limits, so they should be researched and purchased soon after making your reservation.

Cape San Blas is a coastal destination, and tropical weather is always a possibility during hurricane season.
Poor weather, tropical storm or hurricane forecasts, watches or warnings, voluntary evacuations, rain, wind, rough water, or a guest's personal decision not to travel do not override our normal cancellation policy.
However, if an authorized governmental authority issues a Mandatory Evacuation applicable to Cape San Blas, we provide a prorated refund for the unused portion of the reservation affected by the mandatory evacuation, including the corresponding portion of rental charges, taxes, and applicable fees.
We understand that our homes represent a significant vacation investment. They also represent a significant commitment on our part—we remove the property from availability and hold those dates exclusively for you.
For that reason, we encourage every guest to consider their individual circumstances and comfort with financial risk before booking.
If losing the cost of your reservation because of an unexpected cancellation would be a concern, we strongly recommend purchasing appropriate travel insurance when you book your stay.
Travel insurance policies vary considerably. Guests are responsible for reviewing policy terms, covered reasons, exclusions, deadlines, and reimbursement limits before purchasing coverage.
Cape San Blas Bay Rentals does not sell, recommend, warrant, or guarantee any particular insurance company, policy, coverage, or claim. Any questions regarding coverage should be directed to the insurance provider.
